{"id":"AZL-10461","summary":"CVE-2022-29154 affecting package rsync for versions less than 3.2.5-1","details":"An issue was discovered in rsync before 3.2.5 that allows malicious remote servers to write arbitrary files inside the directories of connecting peers. The server chooses which files/directories are sent to the client. However, the rsync client performs insufficient validation of file names. A malicious rsync server (or Man-in-The-Middle attacker) can overwrite arbitrary files in the rsync client target directory and subdirectories (for example, overwrite the .ssh/authorized_keys file).","modified":"2026-04-01T05:06:04.077439Z","published":"2022-08-02T15:15:08Z","upstream":["CVE-2022-29154"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-29154"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"rsync","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:2","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/rsync"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"3.2.5-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-10461.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H"}]}
