{"id":"AZL-26917","summary":"CVE-2023-31130 affecting package fluent-bit for versions less than 2.1.10-1","details":"c-ares is an asynchronous resolver library. ares_inet_net_pton() is vulnerable to a buffer underflow for certain ipv6 addresses, in particular \"0::00:00:00/2\" was found to cause an issue.  C-ares only uses this function internally for configuration purposes which would require an administrator to configure such an address via ares_set_sortlist(). However, users may externally use ares_inet_net_pton() for other purposes and thus be vulnerable to more severe issues. This issue has been fixed in 1.19.1.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:08:50.367781Z","published":"2023-05-25T22:15:09Z","upstream":["CVE-2023-31130"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-31130"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"fluent-bit","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:2","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/fluent-bit"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.1.10-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-26917.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
