{"id":"AZL-35159","summary":"CVE-2022-2962 affecting package qemu for versions less than 6.2.0-18","details":"A DMA reentrancy issue was found in the Tulip device emulation in QEMU. When Tulip reads or writes to the rx/tx descriptor or copies the rx/tx frame, it doesn't check whether the destination address is its own MMIO address. This can cause the device to trigger MMIO handlers multiple times, possibly leading to a stack or heap overflow. A malicious guest could use this flaw to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service condition.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:12:53.114507Z","published":"2022-09-13T20:15:09Z","upstream":["CVE-2022-2962"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-2962"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"qemu","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/qemu"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"6.2.0-18"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-35159.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
