{"id":"AZL-35675","summary":"CVE-2023-6693 affecting package qemu for versions less than 6.2.0-21","details":"A stack based buffer overflow was found in the virtio-net device of QEMU. This issue occurs when flushing TX in the virtio_net_flush_tx function if guest features VIRTIO_NET_F_HASH_REPORT, VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1 and VIRTIO_NET_F_MRG_RXBUF are enabled. This could allow a malicious user to overwrite local variables allocated on the stack. Specifically, the `out_sg` variable could be used to read a part of process memory and send it to the wire, causing an information leak.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:12:13.747440Z","published":"2024-01-02T10:15:08Z","upstream":["CVE-2023-6693"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-6693"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"qemu","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:2","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/qemu"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"6.2.0-21"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-35675.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L"}]}
