{"id":"AZL-37016","summary":"CVE-2022-3437 affecting package samba for versions less than 4.18.3-1","details":"A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability was found in Samba within the GSSAPI unwrap_des() and unwrap_des3() routines of Heimdal. The DES and Triple-DES decryption routines in the Heimdal GSSAPI library allow a length-limited write buffer overflow on malloc() allocated memory when presented with a maliciously small packet. This flaw allows a remote user to send specially crafted malicious data to the application, possibly resulting in a denial of service (DoS) attack.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:13:09.186164Z","published":"2023-01-12T15:15:10Z","upstream":["CVE-2022-3437"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2022-3437"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"samba","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/samba"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"4.18.3-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-37016.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
