{"id":"AZL-47391","summary":"CVE-2024-41965 affecting package vim for versions less than 9.0.2190-4","details":"Vim is an open source command line text editor. double-free in dialog_changed() in Vim \u003c v9.1.0648. When abandoning a buffer, Vim may ask the user what to do with the modified buffer. If the user wants the changed buffer to be saved, Vim may create a new Untitled file, if the buffer did not have a name yet. However, when setting the buffer name to Unnamed, Vim will falsely free a pointer twice, leading to a double-free and possibly later to a heap-use-after-free, which can lead to a crash. The issue has been fixed as of Vim patch v9.1.0648.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:15:53.167223Z","published":"2024-08-01T22:15:29Z","upstream":["CVE-2024-41965"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2024-41965"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"vim","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/vim"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.0.2190-4"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-47391.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L"}]}
