{"id":"AZL-51822","summary":"CVE-2024-49769 affecting package python-waitress 1.4.4-7","details":"Waitress is a Web Server Gateway Interface server for Python 2 and 3. When a remote client closes the connection before waitress has had the opportunity to call getpeername() waitress won't correctly clean up the connection leading to the main thread attempting to write to a socket that no longer exists, but not removing it from the list of sockets to attempt to process. This leads to a busy-loop calling the write function. A remote attacker could run waitress out of available sockets with very little resources required. Waitress 3.0.1 contains fixes that remove the race condition.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:17:46.291425Z","published":"2024-10-29T15:15:12Z","upstream":["CVE-2024-49769"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2024-49769"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"python-waitress","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:2","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/python-waitress"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"1.4.4-7"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-51822.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
