{"id":"AZL-54804","summary":"CVE-2024-56657 affecting package kernel for versions less than 5.15.173.1-1","details":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nALSA: control: Avoid WARN() for symlink errors\n\nUsing WARN() for showing the error of symlink creations don't give\nmore information than telling that something goes wrong, since the\nusual code path is a lregister callback from each control element\ncreation.  More badly, the use of WARN() rather confuses fuzzer as if\nit were serious issues.\n\nThis patch downgrades the warning messages to use the normal dev_err()\ninstead of WARN().  For making it clearer, add the function name to\nthe prefix, too.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:18:24.355620Z","published":"2024-12-27T15:15:25Z","upstream":["CVE-2024-56657"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2024-56657"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"kernel","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:2","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/kernel"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"5.15.173.1-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-54804.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
