{"id":"AZL-57513","summary":"CVE-2025-1125 affecting package grub2 for versions less than 2.06-25","details":"When reading data from a hfs filesystem, grub's hfs filesystem module uses user-controlled parameters from the filesystem metadata to calculate the internal buffers size, however it misses to properly check for integer overflows. A maliciouly crafted filesystem may lead some of those buffer size calculation to overflow, causing it to perform a grub_malloc() operation with a smaller size than expected. As a result the hfsplus_open_compressed_real() function will write past of the internal buffer length. This flaw may be leveraged to corrupt grub's internal critical data and may result in arbitrary code execution by-passing secure boot protections.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:19:09.545460Z","published":"2025-03-03T15:15:16Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-1125"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2025-1125"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"grub2","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/grub2"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.06-25"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-57513.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5"}
