{"id":"AZL-78521","summary":"CVE-2026-27596 affecting package exiv2 0.28.3-1","details":"Exiv2 is a C++ library and a command-line utility to read, write, delete and modify Exif, IPTC, XMP and ICC image metadata. Prior to version 0.28.8, an out-of-bounds read was found in Exiv2. The vulnerability is in the preview component, which is only triggered when running Exiv2 with an extra command line argument, like -pp. The out-of-bounds read is at a 4GB offset, which usually causes Exiv2 to crash. This issue has been patched in version 0.28.8.","modified":"2026-04-01T05:23:15.830158Z","published":"2026-03-02T20:16:27Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-27596"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-27596"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"exiv2","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/exiv2"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"0.28.3-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-78521.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5"}
