{"id":"AZL-86895","summary":"CVE-2026-46483 affecting package vim for versions less than 9.2.0488-1","details":"Vim is an open source, command line text editor. Prior to 9.2.0479, a command injection vulnerability exists in tar#Vimuntar() in\nruntime/autoload/tar.vim when decompressing .tgz archives on Unix-like systems. The function builds :!gunzip and :!gzip -d commands using shellescape(tartail) without the {special} flag, allowing a crafted archive filename to trigger Vim cmdline-special expansion and execute shell commands in the user's context. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.2.0479.","modified":"2026-08-28T17:47:52.270176976Z","published":"2026-05-15T15:16:54Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-46483"],"references":[{"type":"WEB","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-46483"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"vim","ecosystem":"Azure Linux:3","purl":"pkg:rpm/azure-linux/vim"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"9.2.0488-1"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/microsoft/AzureLinuxVulnerabilityData/blob/main/osv/AZL-86895.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0"}
