{"id":"CVE-2021-21843","details":"Multiple exploitable integer overflow vulnerabilities exist within the MPEG-4 decoding functionality of the GPAC Project on Advanced Content library v1.0.1. A specially crafted MPEG-4 input can cause an integer overflow due to unchecked arithmetic resulting in a heap-based buffer overflow that causes memory corruption. After validating the number of ranges, at [41] the library will multiply the count by the size of the GF_SubsegmentRangeInfo structure. On a 32-bit platform, this multiplication can result in an integer overflow causing the space of the array being allocated to be less than expected. An attacker can convince a user to open a video to trigger this vulnerability.","modified":"2026-05-18T05:52:42.466947117Z","published":"2021-08-18T13:15:07.673Z","database_specific":{"unresolved_ranges":[{"extracted_events":[{"last_affected":"10.0"},{"last_affected":"11.0"}],"cpes":["cpe:2.3:o:debian:debian_linux:10.0:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:o:debian:debian_linux:11.0:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"],"vendor_product":"debian:debian_linux","source":"CPE_FIELD"}]},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://www.debian.org/security/2021/dsa-4966"},{"type":"EVIDENCE","url":"https://talosintelligence.com/vulnerability_reports/TALOS-2021-1297"},{"type":"EVIDENCE","url":"https://www.talosintelligence.com/vulnerability_reports/TALOS-2021-1297"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/gpac/gpac","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"d8538e8ae946b32d99c6b2c57cbb327146e9cd9d"}],"database_specific":{"extracted_events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"1.0.1"}],"cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:gpac:gpac:1.0.1:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","source":"CPE_FIELD"}}],"versions":["v1.0.1","v0.7.1","v0.7.0","v0.6.0","v0.5.2"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2021-21843.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
