{"id":"CVE-2023-4155","details":"A flaw was found in KVM AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) in the Linux kernel. A KVM guest using SEV-ES or SEV-SNP with multiple vCPUs can trigger a double fetch race condition vulnerability and invoke the `VMGEXIT` handler recursively. If an attacker manages to call the handler multiple times, they can trigger a stack overflow and cause a denial of service or potentially guest-to-host escape in kernel configurations without stack guard pages (`CONFIG_VMAP_STACK`).","modified":"2026-03-13T07:44:06.723619Z","published":"2023-09-13T17:15:10.143Z","related":["ALSA-2023:7077","CGA-2rj5-jc55-r267","MGASA-2023-0295","MGASA-2023-0296","MGASA-2023-0328","MGASA-2023-0331","SUSE-SU-2023:4035-1","SUSE-SU-2023:4057-1","SUSE-SU-2023:4058-1","SUSE-SU-2023:4071-1","SUSE-SU-2023:4072-1","SUSE-SU-2023:4072-2","SUSE-SU-2023:4093-1"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-4155"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2213802"}],"affected":[{"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2023-4155.json","unresolved_ranges":[{"events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"8.0"}]},{"events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"9.0"}]},{"events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"37"}]},{"events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"38"}]}]}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
