{"id":"CVE-2026-42586","summary":"Netty: CRLF Injection in Netty Redis Codec Encoder","details":"Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final, the Netty Redis codec encoder (RedisEncoder) writes user-controlled string content directly to the network output buffer without validating or sanitizing CRLF (\\r\\n) characters. Since the Redis Serialization Protocol (RESP) uses CRLF as the command/response delimiter, an attacker who can control the content of a Redis message can inject arbitrary Redis commands or forge fake responses. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final.","aliases":["GHSA-rgrr-p7gp-5xj7"],"modified":"2026-06-10T08:44:13.782105488Z","published":"2026-05-13T18:20:46.999Z","related":["CGA-jqhg-8jpx-g5wf","SUSE-SU-2026:2308-1","openSUSE-SU-2026:10795-1"],"database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/42xxx/CVE-2026-42586.json","cna_assigner":"GitHub_M","cwe_ids":["CWE-93"]},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/42xxx/CVE-2026-42586.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-rgrr-p7gp-5xj7"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-42586"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/netty/netty","events":[{"introduced":"5451fbb0effd8460f57013bb33aefeb953144ed9"},{"fixed":"fb13125f135ab53203513ff603872a3abe84d38d"}]}],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-42586.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N"}]}
