{"id":"CVE-2026-62300","summary":"Filecoin Pin: Unbounded DAG pinning can exhaust filecoin-pin server resources","details":"Filecoin Pin is an IPFS Pinning Service API implementation that pins to Filecoin's PDP service. In daemon deployments up to and including version 1.1.0, `POST /pins` in `src/filecoin-pinning-server.ts` checks a caller-supplied CID with `CID.parse` and passes it to `pinStore.pin`, but does not enforce request rate limits or per-user quotas. In `src/filecoin-pin-store.ts`, each pin independently schedules `_processPinInBackground` with `setTimeout` without a queue, semaphore or concurrency cap, then recursively traverses the full DAG using `helia.pins.add(cid)`. The per-pin Helia/Bitswap node in `src/create-pinning-helia.ts` has no application-level byte, block or traversal-time limits. Blocks are written under `carStoragePath` by `src/core/car/car-blockstore-base.ts` and `src/core/car/car-file-backend.ts`, with `stats.totalSize` updated only after writing. An authenticated caller, or an anonymous caller when `ALLOW_NO_AUTH=true`, can submit large DAGs and exhaust disk, network, CPU, memory and libp2p resources, causing service degradation or host/process failure and leaving partial CAR files requiring recovery. The default localhost binding and token requirement reduce exposure. Because nodes have no bootstrap or mDNS configuration, a CID alone may not be fetchable, but caller-supplied `origins` can point to a reachable attacker-controlled libp2p source; concurrent requests accelerate resource pressure. Version 1.1.1 documents operational mitigations but does not implement the missing resource controls.","aliases":["GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"],"modified":"2026-11-04T02:37:03.751050014Z","published":"2026-10-30T20:15:23.238Z","database_specific":{"osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/62xxx/CVE-2026-62300.json","cna_assigner":"GitHub_M","cwe_ids":["CWE-400"]},"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2026/62xxx/CVE-2026-62300.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/security/advisories/GHSA-m5ph-mmg5-6w5h"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-62300"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin/commit/8db22b47899deb78dadf415fc477cae4bd6e82c2"}],"affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/filecoin-project/filecoin-pin","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"8db22b47899deb78dadf415fc477cae4bd6e82c2"}],"database_specific":{"extracted_events":[{"strategy":"StringRangeExpression","range":[{"introduced":"0"},{"last_affected":"1.1.0"}],"source":"AFFECTED_FIELD"},{"range":[{"fixed":"8db22b47899deb78dadf415fc477cae4bd6e82c2"}],"source":"REFERENCES_COMMIT"}]}}],"versions":["v1.1.0","v1.0.1","v0.23.2","v0.23.1","v0.23.0","v0.22.3","v0.22.2","v0.22.1","v0.22.0","v0.21.0","v0.20.1","v0.20.0","v0.19.0","v1.0.0","v0.18.0","v0.17.0","v0.16.0","v0.15.1","v0.15.0","v0.14.0","v0.13.0","v0.12.0","v0.11.1","v0.11.0","v0.10.1","v0.10.0","v0.9.2","v0.9.1","v0.9.0","v0.8.1","v0.8.0","v0.7.3","v0.7.2","v0.7.1","v0.7.0","v0.6.0","v0.5.0","v0.4.1","v0.4.0","v0.3.0","v0.2.2","v0.2.1","v0.2.0","v0.1.0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2026-62300.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.2","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
