{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2024-28102","details":"JWCrypto implements JWK, JWS, and JWE specifications using python-cryptography. Prior to version 1.5.6, an attacker can cause a denial of service attack by passing in a malicious JWE Token with a high compression ratio. When the server processes this token, it will consume a lot of memory and processing time. Version 1.5.6 fixes this vulnerability by limiting the maximum token length.","modified":"2026-09-15T09:03:06.465611150Z","published":"2024-03-21T02:52:23.513Z","upstream":["CVE-2024-28102"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2024-28102"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"python-jwcrypto","ecosystem":"Debian:12","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/python-jwcrypto?arch=source&distro=bookworm"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.1.0-1+deb12u1"}]}],"versions":["1.1.0-1"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-28102.json"}},{"package":{"name":"python-jwcrypto","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/python-jwcrypto?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.5.6-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-28102.json"}},{"package":{"name":"python-jwcrypto","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/python-jwcrypto?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.5.6-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-28102.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
