{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2024-3119","details":"A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in all versions of sngrep since v0.4.2, due to improper handling of 'Call-ID' and 'X-Call-ID' SIP headers. The functions sip_get_callid and sip_get_xcallid in sip.c use the strncpy function to copy header contents into fixed-size buffers without checking the data length. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (DoS) through specially crafted SIP messages.","modified":"2026-09-15T09:03:06.921271160Z","published":"2024-04-10T00:15:12.107Z","upstream":["CVE-2024-3119"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2024-3119"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"sngrep","ecosystem":"Debian:12","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/sngrep?arch=source&distro=bookworm"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["1.6.0-1","1.7.0-1","1.7.0-2","1.7.0-2~bpo12+1","1.8.0-1","1.8.1-1","1.8.2-1","1.8.2-1~bpo12+1","1.8.3-1","1.8.3-1~bpo13+1","1.8.4-1","1.8.4-1~bpo13+1","1.8.4-2"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-3119.json"}},{"package":{"name":"sngrep","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/sngrep?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.8.1-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-3119.json"}},{"package":{"name":"sngrep","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/sngrep?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.8.1-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2024-3119.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"}]}
