{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2025-21773","details":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:  can: etas_es58x: fix potential NULL pointer dereference on udev-\u003eserial  The driver assumed that es58x_dev-\u003eudev-\u003eserial could never be NULL. While this is true on commercially available devices, an attacker could spoof the device identity providing a NULL USB serial number. That would trigger a NULL pointer dereference.  Add a check on es58x_dev-\u003eudev-\u003eserial before accessing it.","modified":"2026-08-27T23:05:27.080482142Z","published":"2025-02-27T03:15:17.970Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-21773"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2025-21773"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"linux","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/linux?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"6.12.16-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2025-21773.json"}},{"package":{"name":"linux","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/linux?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"6.12.16-1"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2025-21773.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
