{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2025-31130","details":"gitoxide is an implementation of git written in Rust. Before 0.42.0, gitoxide uses SHA-1 hash implementations without any collision detection, leaving it vulnerable to hash collision attacks. gitoxide uses the sha1_smol or sha1 crate, both of which implement standard SHA-1 without any mitigations for collision attacks. This means that two distinct Git objects with colliding SHA-1 hashes would break the Git object model and integrity checks when used with gitoxide. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.42.0.","modified":"2026-08-27T23:05:20.577127491Z","published":"2025-04-04T15:15:48.320Z","upstream":["CVE-2025-31130"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2025-31130"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"rust-gix-features","ecosystem":"Debian:13","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/rust-gix-features?arch=source&distro=trixie"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"0.39.1-2"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2025-31130.json"}},{"package":{"name":"rust-gix-features","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/rust-gix-features?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"0.39.1-2"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2025-31130.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:H/A:N"}]}
