{"id":"DEBIAN-CVE-2026-42285","details":"GoBGP is an open source Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) implementation in the Go Programming Language. In version 4.4.0, an unauthenticated remote BGP peer can trigger a fatal panic in GoBGP by sending a specially crafted BGP UPDATE message. When the server receives a message with inconsistent attribute lengths, it improperly handles the internal state transition to a \"withdraw\" action, leading to a nil pointer dereference in the AdjRib.Update function. This causes the entire GoBGP process to crash, resulting in a complete loss of service availability. This issue has been patched in version 4.5.0.","modified":"2026-08-27T23:05:59.860899675Z","published":"2026-05-07T12:16:18.180Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-42285"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2026-42285"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"gobgp","ecosystem":"Debian:14","purl":"pkg:deb/debian/gobgp?arch=source&distro=forky"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"4.5.0-1"}]}],"versions":["3.36.0-2","4.3.0-1","4.4.0-1","4.5.0-1~bpo13+1"],"ecosystem_specific":{"urgency":"not yet assigned"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/osv-test-debian-osv/debian-cve-osv/DEBIAN-CVE-2026-42285.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.9.0","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
