{"id":"MGASA-2014-0503","summary":"Updated tcpdump package fixes security vulnerabilities","details":"The Tcpdump program could crash when processing a malformed OLSR payload\nwhen the verbose output flag was set (CVE-2014-8767).\n\nThe application decoder for the Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV)\nprotocol in Tcpdump fails to perform input validation and performs unsafe\nout-of-bound accesses. The application will usually not crash, but perform\nout-of-bounds accesses and output/leak larger amounts of invalid data, which\nmight lead to dropped packets. It is unknown if a payload exists that might\ntrigger segfaults (CVE-2014-8769).\n","modified":"2026-02-02T06:06:29.975200Z","published":"2014-12-01T17:57:09Z","related":["CVE-2014-8767","CVE-2014-8769"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2014-0503.html"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14673"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2014-November/144951.html"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"tcpdump","ecosystem":"Mageia:4","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/tcpdump?arch=source&distro=mageia-4"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"4.4.0-2.1.mga4"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2014-0503.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.3","credits":[{"name":"Mageia","contact":["https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packages_Security_Team"],"type":"COORDINATOR"}]}
