{"id":"MGASA-2020-0023","summary":"Updated openssl packages fix security vulnerability","details":"Updated compat-openssl10 and openssl packages fix security vulnerability:\n\nThere is an overflow bug in the x64_64 Montgomery squaring procedure used\nin exponentiation with 512-bit moduli. No EC algorithms are affected.\nAnalysis suggests that attacks against 2-prime RSA1024, 3-prime RSA1536,\nand DSA1024 as a result of this defect would be very difficult to perform\nand are not believed likely. Attacks against DH512 are considered just\nfeasible. However, for an attack the target would have to re-use the DH512\nprivate key, which is not recommended anyway. Also applications directly\nusing the low level API BN_mod_exp may be affected if they use\nBN_FLG_CONSTTIME (CVE-2019-1551).\n","modified":"2026-04-16T01:47:16.587885505Z","published":"2020-01-05T15:37:51Z","upstream":["CVE-2019-1551"],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2020-0023.html"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25977"},{"type":"WEB","url":"https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv/20191206.txt"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"openssl","ecosystem":"Mageia:7","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/openssl?arch=source&distro=mageia-7"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.1.0l-1.1.mga7"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2020-0023.json"}},{"package":{"name":"compat-openssl10","ecosystem":"Mageia:7","purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/compat-openssl10?arch=source&distro=mageia-7"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"1.0.2u-1.mga7"}]}],"ecosystem_specific":{"section":"core"},"database_specific":{"source":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2020-0023.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","credits":[{"name":"Mageia","contact":["https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packages_Security_Team"],"type":"COORDINATOR"}]}
