{"id":"UBUNTU-CVE-2026-41018","details":"The Elasticsearch logging provider, when configured with a `host` URL that embeds credentials (for example `https://user:password@server.example.com:9200`), wrote the full host URL — including the embedded credentials — into task logs. Any user with task-log read permission could harvest the backend credentials. Users are advised to upgrade to `apache-airflow-providers-elasticsearch` 6.5.3 or later and, as a defense-in-depth measure, configure the backend credentials via a secret backend rather than embedding them in the `[elasticsearch] host` URL.","modified":"2026-05-14T12:22:05.355923432Z","published":"2026-05-11T09:16:00Z","upstream":["CVE-2026-41018"],"references":[{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026-41018"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-41018"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/65349"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"https://lists.apache.org/thread/wz5l58drprmwlv6jxnq466x24jqbbhp7"},{"type":"REPORT","url":"http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/05/10/3"}],"affected":[{"package":{"name":"elasticsearch","ecosystem":"Ubuntu:16.04:LTS","purl":"pkg:deb/ubuntu/elasticsearch?arch=source&distro=xenial"},"ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"}]}],"versions":["1.6.2+dfsg-1","1.7.3+dfsg-1","1.7.3+dfsg-2","1.7.3+dfsg-3"],"ecosystem_specific":{"binaries":[{"binary_name":"elasticsearch","binary_version":"1.7.3+dfsg-3"},{"binary_name":"libelasticsearch1.7-java","binary_version":"1.7.3+dfsg-3"}]},"database_specific":{"source":"https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-security-notices/blob/main/osv/cve/2026/UBUNTU-CVE-2026-41018.json"}}],"schema_version":"1.7.5","severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N"},{"type":"Ubuntu","score":"medium"}]}
